Neck Platysmaplasty
Unhappy with the scarring of a classical neck lift, Mr Wilson has refined a procedure that will significantly improve the contour of the neck and the lax skin, with minimum scarring.
Many patients dislike the appearance of the ageing neck. Obtaining a significant
improvement can be difficult and will normally require a procedure under a general
anaesthetic.
However, Mr Wilson has several procedures that will help. A mini facelift will give a pleasing
improvement of the upper 1/3 of the neck. Thread lifts work well in the face although the
effect is not long-lasting. They can also give a moderate lift of the neck.
When there are strong muscle bands in the front of the neck these can be softened with
Botox, but a better and longer lasting effect can be achieved by dividing the muscle bands
with a thread passed though needle holes (No scars).
If there is a lot of lax skin on the neck, and a major procedure is not wished for then Mr
Wilson performs an open platysmaplasty under local anaesthetic. An ellipse of skin is
excised, fat removed and the muscle bands stitched together like a hammock. There will be
a scar in the natural lines of the neck.
When there is only a little lax skin under the chin, but some fat, then liposuction works very well.
